Woven silk ties are always preferred over printed silk ties. Printed silk ties do not have the depth and texture that is a special trait of the woven silk tie. Printed ones are just plain flat and smooth.

One more thing to consider while purchasing the silk tie is the color. You can go for the classic colors which are black, white and silver. You can get either the bold solid colors or patterned designs. Light colors such as pink and blue are popular wedding colors. Solid colored ties are excellent for evening events and even formal business dinners.

Although many silk ties will come with a protective lining, they should still be properly taken care of. If a fabric protector is not applied properly, try applying a spray-on fabric protector. The only correct way to remove a stain from your silk tie is to apply a stain remover for laundry. An all purpose stain remover can be used for regular grime and dust removal. Some special stain removers come for the sole purpose of removing protein-based stains. These can be used for removing stains caused by dairy products like eggs and baby food etc. While using a stain remover there is always a risk of the color of your tie getting fade.
Do not hang your tie as wrinkles can be formed on it. It is advisable to roll it and keep in a drawer. Silk ties can be ironed by light heat or steaming with a hand steamer.
